Loudoun County invites members of the community to join in a celebration of the Loudoun South Little League team, the first team from Virginia in 25 years to go to the Little League World Series. The celebration will begin with a parade starting at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive in South Riding.
The parade, which will include marching bands and firetrucks, will process down Riding Center Drive to Freedom High School, where the celebration will continue with a festival and ceremony recognizing all of the spring 2019 All-Star Little League teams in Loudoun. The festivities will include inflatables, games, music and food organized by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. The celebration is a joint effort of Loudoun County, the Loudoun South Little League and South Riding Proprietary
Plans for the parade follow a Board of Supervisors resolution adopted September 3, 2019, recognizing and commending the Loudoun South Little League team of 10 to 12 year olds for winning the District 16, Virginia State and Southeast Regional Championships and for competing in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Board also adopted a resolution in recognition of the Loudoun South Little League team of 8 to 10 year olds for repeating as District 16 and Virginia State champions and for competing in the regional Tournament of State Champions.
