Recreation and Grounds Committee Meeting July 20

The July 20, 2009 meeting of the Recreation and Grounds Committee, held at Town Hall was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the Committee Chair, Rick Lewis.

Members Attending:  Rick Lewis, Todd McFarland, Bill Sullivan, Charlene Jones and Jill Sharif.

Guests Attending:  Dani Junkes (SRP), Pauol Szabo (High Sierra Pools) and Mike Brewster (Clippers).

Members Absent:   Martin Graves (SRP), Jeff Salmon (BOD Liaison), Donna Mines and Julie Abel.

Resident Comments: Jill Sharif inquired about the cable being buried behind the Town Homes at Overly Square.  Dani informed the committee that she has made many (12) calls to Verizon and now taken it to the County level to enlist their help in getting the work done.  Dani will continue to follow-up on this.

Jill also inquired about the cracks in the Town Hall Tennis Courts.  Martin had checked on these and says that they are normal wear and tear on the courts.

Approval of the Minutes:  Jill Sharif moved to approve the June 2009 Committee Minutes.  The motion was seconded by Bill Sullivan.  The motion passed unanimously.

Reports:

Rick Lewis reporting for Jeff Salmon:

•The Board approved the proposed “Pet Waste Station Guidelines”.
•We are still waiting on the SPAM for the Skate Park so we are on hold right now.

Mike Brewster:
•Clippers is on a ten day mowing schedule right now while it is so dry out. 
•The yearly edging of the community has begun.  This goes from the curb – sidewalk to sidewalk. 
•Tree pruning is being done.
•Policing for trash on main streets and parks.

Old Business:

•The new Tennis Court sidewalks have been poured.  The project is nearing completion. We have moved over 900 yards of soil from the site. The base coat is now down and the final coat of asphalt will be applied on July 30th, 2009. The fencing around the court is to be installed on July 31st.  Fifteen days after the final asphalt coating is down, the color coating will be applied. 24 hours after the asphalt coating is down the courts will be ready for play. The picnic shelter will follow after completion of the courts.
•Skate Plaza – Have no new information since we are still waiting on the SPAM to be completed.

Meeting adjourned: Jill Sharif moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. The motion was seconded by Charlene Jones and passed unanimously.
